Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Starting the game by leading the 2 of clubs, Largest card led of a given suit takes the trick, Hearts can't be plaid until they are "broken" but that only means a team did not have a given suit and plays trump.

When the first heart is played the game doesn't treat it as trump it just acts like the person is "throwing off" but it does know that this opens the suit for playing. I played the game anyhow a few more times and tried to use it according to it's flawed rules. At least once I found I could take all the Heart tricks and have the queen of spades. That game was scored as it should have been of course I took all the heart tricks by noone having a higher heart; not using them as trump.

The part of other teams not following suit when they had cards in their hand is a little more uncertain. I only have seen it one time so far and since you cannot see hands after they are played you have to rely on memory to know that a team cheated did not follow suit but I'm pretty sure it happened.

I believe I answered at least half of my problem. Hearts are not trump. Unlike the game of Spades Hearts are not the highest cards in the game; just the only cards that score points. I missunderstood the rules.
