I've played with and without the complete mod and I did feel like it made the game too easy, but I think most of the hate for it isn't for the mod itself or some 'fanboy' sense of superiority but for its annoying fans. Some of the changes are bogus and mess up the challenging aspects of the game, but as a Stalker noob, it kind of helped me get introduced to the series without getting too frustrated with the game.
