Reinstall windows xp now no internet

Refer to the picture below :. Once the ethernet drivers are installed, you will be able to connect to the internet with the ethernet cable connected to the modem. Thanks and Regards Priyanka S iworkfordell. Ok I did install all of the drivers like you said, but still have had some issues.

After I tried to install it a couple of times it still did not work and I downloaded the rest of the drivers. What drivers do I need for these?? The Wi-Fi that I had before was windows based, this one is made by Dell and it works but not like it used to.

Thanks for the reply. Please confirm if you installed the Intel Mobile Chipset drivers before installing the video drivers. Once the chipset drivers are installed, please install the video drivers. The modem is under "Communications". You either have a Conexant or an Intel Modem. I always remove the side cover and look with a flashlight for a label to determine which one it is.

Most of the time with the Dell's I've seen, the modems are Conexant. Again, all you will really need is the Driver, not the utilities unless you prefer to have them.

Oh, the audio driver will be the SigmaTel-Driver unless you have a dedicated Creative sound card. OK, I'm on the Internet and I have sound! Seems when I inserted the Dell driver disk nothing installed.

I had to do them manually. My thanks to all of you for taking the time to help me. It is appreciated very much. Now that your on the web you might want to check on the mfg's website and see if there are any updated drivers that you can download.

Joined Oct 11, Messages If you have a cable modem then you probably have a fixed IP address allocated by your service provider like I do. If your pc is connected directly to your modem by an ethernet cable, your IP address should be set in the properties dialog of your ethernet connection, however if you connect through a wireless router then the fixed IP address goes into your router settings and it then provides a dynamic local area network address for each PC that connects to it via the DHCP server which is part of the router.

First question, has this setup ever worked? Since reinstalling windows have you entered this fixed IP address into you PC or your router? What make and model is your cable modem and your Mac Airport station? Joined Nov 15, Messages 1. Hello Matt, I think there's some confusion here. When you reinstall Windows, you need to reinstall the drivers for your particular computer hardware.

For internet access, you need an Ethernet driver, and, if your computer is so equipped, a wireless driver. The Ethernet driver is required for your to connect your computer directly to the modem with a cable, or directly to the router. If you are trying to connect wirelessly, the Ethernet driver doesn't come into play. If you want to connect to a wireless router, you need the wireless drivers for your particular computer. These drivers you get from a CD provided with the computer, presuming you're using the same operating system that the computer came with, or you identify the name and model of the Ethernet and wireless cards and download from the harware manufacturer's or the computer manufacturer's website.

I'm thinking that maybe you haven't installed your wireless drivers for your computer. Joined May 3, Messages 22, You also need the motherboard chipset drivers most likely before you install any driver for ethernet card. Now that said I am still unlcear if the ethernet card accepted the driver.

Hi Matt, I agree with claymore it looks as tho you have yet to install the driver for your wireless adapter which you will probably have to get from the toshiba web site. Thanks again..!! I was close to throwing it out haha Click edit and choose video adapter. Download the recommended video adapter driver. Well thanks again! This site rocks and you're a genius! The resolution is back to normal!
